Privacy Policy

The short version: NVS is local-first. Your writing and its analysis live on your own computer as plain files. We run no server for the app and we collect nothing about you or your work. There is exactly one way any of your content leaves your machine, and only if you turn it on: the AI features, described below.

What stays on your disk

• Your prose (the Markdown scene files) and the analysis database beside them (a co-located .nvs/ folder). Nothing here is uploaded to us.
• Telemetry, when written, is local-only: a log file beside your project on disk, used to show run timings in-app. It is never transmitted anywhere. There is no analytics SDK and no crash reporting.

The one outbound flow: AI features

When you enable AI analysis or assistance, NVS sends the relevant parts of your prose to the AI provider you configure, using your own API key or account such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, or Anthropic. NVS is only the conduit: that data goes directly to your chosen provider under their privacy terms, and we never receive or store it. If you never enable AI, no prose ever leaves your machine.

You can turn AI off entirely in the app’s settings, and you control which provider and key are used. You are responsible for reviewing your provider’s data-handling terms.

One metadata fetch

The in-app Store fetches a public catalog file (the nvs-datasets registry) so it can list downloadable example works. That is an ordinary public read, with no information about you or your work is sent.
